MANILA, Philippines — Running into a young team that refused to be intimidated, F2 Logistics rolled its sleeves early in the tournament to hack out a 25-21, 25-14, 25-19 win over California Precision Sports in the PNVF Champions League women’s championships on Saturday at Aquamarine Sports Complex in Lipa City.
California Precision Sports, whose core is being groomed to become the national youth squad, took the opening point and for most of the first set was fighting toe to toe with the many-time Philippine Superliga champion team.
“I’m proud of these young ladies,” said F2 Logistics team captain Aby Marano, who grew up in Antipolo where CPS is based. “I told coach (Jerry Yee) that he’s got a great team there.”
Kizzie Madriaga, skipper of CPS, said they just went out “playing with nothing to lose,” as they even led the Cargo Movers several times, the most at 11-8 in the first frame.
F2 Logistics goes for a 2-0 start on Sunday against Baguio, which earlier lost to Petro Gazz in straight sets.
