Bagunas scores 12, Oita Miyoshi fails to follow up rare win
MANILA, Philippines—Oita Miyoshi and Bryan Bagunas failed to repeat against JTEKT, losing in three sets, 25-18, 28-26, 25-18, in their second straight meeting in the 2021-22 Japan V.League season Sunday at CNA Arena Akita.
The Weisse Adler took the first encounter against the Stings, 25-23, 11-25, 12-25, 25-22,15-13, for just their second win of the season but the loss sent them back to ninth place at 2-8.
JTEKT, meanwhile, gained a share of the fifth spot at 6-4, tying the Panasonic Panthers.
Felipe Monteles led the Stings with 16 points while Kento Miyaura added 13 points.
Emerson Rodriguez finished with 16 points for the Weisse Adler while Bagunas pitched in 12 points.
Oita Miyoshi faces eighth seed JT Hiroshima next on Saturday at Showa Denko Martial Arts Sports Center.
