MANILA, Philippines–PetroGazz made up for its heart-breaking defeat the previous match by beating Tuguegarao Perlas, 25-11, 26-24, 19-25, 25-20, and grabbing third place in the PNVF Champions League women’s championships at Aquamarine Recreation Center in Lipa City.
The Angels thus took the podium in the only two tournaments held this year amid the pandemic including the professionalized Premier Volleyball League last August.
Ria Meneses unloaded 19 points for PetroGazz who also got double-digit performances from Ces Molina, Grethcel Soltones and Jessey de Leon who accounted for a combined 35 points.
It was big comeback for PetroGazz who blew a two sets lead before losing to high school team California Precision Sports last Wednesday.
Heather Guino-o led the Perlas Spikers with 16 points, while Mich Morente and Nicole Tiamzon added 13 each.
PetroGazz finished the competition with a 3-2 record, while Perlas wound up with 2-3.
