MANILA, Philippines—FC Tokyo and Marck Espejo put a stop to their two-match skid after an upset of Sakai in four sets, 25-17, 25-20, 15-25, 25-19, in the 2021-22 Japan V.League season Saturday at Komazawa Olympic Park General Sports Ground Gymnasium in Tokyo.

Jonas Kvalen fired 23 points to lead FC Tokyo to a 4-9 record while Yuma Nagatomo added 16 points.

Espejo also finished in double figures with 10 points for Tokyo.

Vernon Evans led the Blazers with 18 points while Yuki Higuchi added 13 points as they dropped just third game for a 10-3 record and shared the first seed with the Toray Arrows.

FC Tokyo and Sakai will once again face each other on Sunday at the same venue.
