MANILA, Philippines—San-En’s misery continued as its eight-man roster suffered a devastating 104-71 loss to Mikawa in its West Conference clash in the 2021-22 Japan B.League season Saturday at its home floor of Toyohashi City Gymnasium in Aichi.
Key cog Thirdy Ravena missed the game as he served the first of a two-game suspension imposed by the NeoPhoenix after the Filipino guard damaged a sponsor signboard in a loss to Toyama.
San-En dropped its seventh straight game and slid to a 3-12 record for the 10th seed in the conference while the Seahorses tied Shimane in second at 10-5.
The Seahorses held a narrow 41-38 lead heading into the break but waxed hot in the third quarter, where they outscored San-En, 30-17, stretching their advantage to 71-55 lead after Sumino Ryogo’s three-pointer just before the buzzer.
Jarrod Uthoff led Mikawa with 25 points, 16 rebounds, four assists, and two steals while Sumino added 23 points on 6-of-8 shooting from deep.
Justin Knox led San-En with 26 points and eight rebounds while Sugiura Yusei and Tsuya Kazuma added 17 and 12 points, respectively.
