MANILA, Philippines—Niigata and Kobe Paras struck a dozen straight losses after they fell to Akita, 79-62, in their East Conference meeting of the 2021-22 Japan B.League season Saturday at their home floor of City Hall Plaza Aore Nagaoka.
The Albirex BB stumbled to a miserable 2-13 slate to tie Ibaraki at the bottom of the conference while the Northern Happinets claimed the sixth seed with an 8-7 record.
Jordan Glynn capped off a 10-2 run with a four-point play to put Akita comfortably ahead, 30-19, midway through the second quarter. That scoring spurt turned out to be the difference in the game as Niigata never got to within striking distance.
Colton Iverson finished with 21 points, seven rebounds, and three assists to lead Akita while Glynn added 18 points, five rebounds, three assists, and four steals.
Kawashima Hayato also notched double digits for the Northern Happinets with 11 points along with three assists and four steals.
Rosco Allen led the Albirex BB with 16 points, five rebounds, and five assists while Paras added nine points.
