Arwind Santos shines in NorthPort debut despite losing effort
MANILA, Philippines—It may not have been a triumphant debut at NorthPort for Arwind Santos, but it was a promising one nonetheless.
Santos fired a game-high 23 points, including 14 in the final frame to nearly propel the Batang Pier to victory despite trailing by as many as 10 points.
Article continues after this advertisementHe scored 12 straight points over a four-minute stretch that pulled his team within two, 81-83, with 1:44 left.

“Arwind’s Arwind. He’s a vet. He knows where to get his shots from no matter what team he’s playing for,” Alaska head coach Jeffrey Cariaso on Wednesday after the Aces’ 87-85 win.

The 40-year-old Santos aside from his fourth-quarter outburst, he also made his presence felt on the defensive end with seven rebounds, three steals and four blocks.
Santos won nine championships with San Miguel Beer before being shipped to NorthPort for Vic Manuel last month.
