Marck Espejo’s side rules 2021 V.League All Star game
MANILA, Philippines—Marck Espejo added another accolade to his resume after he helped his side to victory in the 2021 V.League All Star in Tokorozawa.
Team Kota, which Espejo was part of, took a four-set win over Team Shirasawa, 25-22, 25-22, 26-24, Sunday at Tokorozawa Municipal Gymnasium in Saitama Prefecture.
Article continues after this advertisementEspejo played alongside FC Tokyo teammate Kuriyama Hideyuki for Yamamura Kota’s team with Panasonic trio Shimizu Kunihiro, who played as captain, Nakamoto Kenyu, and Imamura Takahiko.
Yamamoto Tomohiro (Sakai), Sharone Vernon-Evans (Sakai), Homma Ryuta (JTEKT), Shinichi Fukuyama (JTEKT), Oya Masaki (Suntory), Ono Haruki (Suntory), Onodera Taishi (JT Hiroshima), and Kato Yudai (VC Nagano) were also part of Team Kota.
Opposite Team Kota is Shirasawa Kenji’s, who plays for Panasonic, Team Shirasawa which had skipper Yanagida Masahiro of Suntory.
Article continues after this advertisementFujinaka Kenya (Suntory), Takanashi Kenta (WD Nagoya), Motoki Eiryu (WD Nagoya), Ogawa Tomohiro (WD Nagoya), Denda Ryota (WD Nagoya), Ri Haku (Toray), Fujii Naonobu (Toray), Yamada Kota (Oita Miyoshi), Kubota Masato (Oita Miyoshi), Miyaura Kent (JTEKT), Chen Jian-soo (JT Hiroshima), Yamauchi Akihiro (Panasonic), and Nakamura Ryusukuke (VC Nagano) made up the other roster spots of Team Shirasawa.
Espejo is one of three Filipinos playing in the V.League with Bryan Bagunas starring for the Oita Miyoshi Weisse Adler and Jaja Santiago towering for the Saitama Ageo Medics in the women’s division.
