MANILA, Philippines—Love him or hate him, but Jake Paul was just given the ESPN’s Knockout of the Year plum.
The YouTube personality put former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley to sleep in their second meeting and the knockout earned the fans’ votes in ESPN’s Twitter poll.
Of the more than 68,000 votes, 56 percent went Paul’s way beating Tyson Fury’s late knockout of Deontay Wilder in the trilogy capper between the two generational heavyweights.
Paul, who’s now at 4-0 in his fights, landed a crisp right straight that immediately put Woodley down—the first time that the UFC champion got knocked out, at least officially.
Fury’s victory over Wilder, which retained him the WBC and Ring Magazine titles, earned 37 percent of the votes.
Paul and Woodley first fought in August with the YouTuber taking the split decision win.
Tommy Fury, the younger half-brother of Tyson, was originally set to face Paul on December 18 but he pulled out of the fight due to injury and Woodley then took the match in short notice.
