MANILA, Philippines—Bienve Marañon has bid goodbye to United City FC, a club he’s called home for almost more than six years.

The club announced on social media that Marañon is set to transfer to a team overseas and wished the naturalized Filipino forward nothing but the best.

“UCFC would like to congratulate Bienve on his well-deserved career move & thank him for his services to the club as a decorated player & co-captain,” wrote United City on Twitter.

“While it’s sad to see him leave at this time, it opens great opportunities for UCFC in preparation for the 2022 season. Good luck!”

Marañon was United City’s ace both in the Philippines and in the continental level, having netted an AFC Cup record 35 goals leading to two Golden Boots in 2019 and 2020.

The 5-foot-9 forward also won a total of six domestic trophies with the club including one United Football League title, four Philippine Football League championships, and one Copa Paulino Alcantara.

HIs exploits in domestic competitions earned him a spot with the Philippine Azkals after he became a naturalized Filipino citizen in July 2021, five months before the the AFF Suzuki Cup.

Marañon once again proved his abilities for the national team when he was named co-owner of that competition’s Golden Boot having scored four goals in as many matches.
