MANILA, Philippines—PLDT Home Fibr added more key pieces to its roster ahead of the new Premier Volleyball League season.
The High Speed Hitters acquired the services of setter Wendy Semana, Fila Ceballos and Lhara Clavano as they aim to go far this time after a sixth-place finish the previous conference.
The three joined PLDT a day after the signing of middle blocker Dell Palomata and outside hitter Jovie Prado.
“I missed playing and then I got invited by coach George (Pascua) to tryout,” said Semana, who was named Best Setter back in the V-League in 2017. “I tried and I was given a chance.”
Palomata didn’t even think twice in her decision to suit up for PLDT due to her familiarity with the team’s coaching staff.
“I joined PLDT because of the coaches,” said Palomata, who will be a special guest player for PLDT as she is an enlisted Air Force personnel. “Coach George was my coach on the national team and I was with coach Raffy Mosuela at Air Force that’s why I chose PLDT.“
“It’s a big factor in enhancing my talent. They coach me in a way that I’m able to show what I’m really capable of.”
It has been a busy offseason for the High Speed Hitters, who have also bolstered their squad with the arrival of new recruits Kath Arado, Jessey De Leon and Mean Mendrez.
Star playmaker Rhea Dimaculangan, Chin Basas, Eli Soyud, and Nieza Viray are the team’s holdovers from last season.
