RAIN or Shine rallied from seven points down in the last eight minutes of regulation to forge overtime then hacked out a 100-94 win over B-Meg last night for its second straight victory in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Gabe Norwood hit a triple at the 1:41 mark of overtime that broke the game’s last tie at 92 before the Elasto Painters watched the Llamados miss a series of shots.
Jamelle Cornley had 27 points and 11 rebounds and Paul Lee scattered 17 for the Painters, who won their first game against Alas.
Marcus Blakely paced the debuting Llamados with 28.
Earlier, Jamine Peterson had a super start that almost backfired for Barako Bull and the the Energy turned to their locals in the stretch to fashion out a 106-101 victory over Powerade.
Peterson worked like a dog in the first two periods and finished the first half with 27 points and 18 rebounds before nearly wasting that superb effort and dooming his team by sputtering the rest of the way.
But Danny Seigle, Ronald Tubid and Willie Miller came to the Energy’s rescue as Barako Bull completed a winning start while inflicting a second straight loss on Powerade and highly touted import Rashad McCants.
