MANILA, Philippines—Johanna Lim Uy, a member of the Philippine national underwater hockey team, passed away on Wednesday.
She was 41.
The Philippine Sports Commission confirmed the development on its social media accounts as several athletes offered their condolences.

According to reports, Uy and her 67-year-old mother Helen were killed in a fire as they were unable to leave their rooms on the second floor of their home.
The fire, which broke out at 4 am, reached the first alarm and trapped the two inside their three-story house.
Uy won two silver medals in the women’s 4×3 and women’s 6×6 events of the underwater hockey competition in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
