MANILA, Philippines—Add Francis “LeBron” Lopez into the mix of Gilas Pilipinas players joining the current national team pool for the Fiba World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
Lopez, who skipped college and turned pro after signing with Overtime Elite in the United States last year, was the latest player to practice with Gilas.
But the promising 18-year-old has yet to fly to the US reportedly due to visa issues.
The former Ateneo high school standout was seen training with Gilas at Moro Lorenzo Sports Center in Ateneo in a video posted by Philippine team coach Chot Reyes.
Lopez impressed in his first and only game for Gilas thus far during the Fiba Asia Cup Qualifiers last year against Indonesia.
Earlier this month, Japan-based Thirdy Ravena, Dwight Ramos and Juan Gomez de Liaño bolstered the national team pool.
