MANILA, Philippines—Marc Pingris already fulfilled his playing duties for Gilas Pilipinas and he now takes another step in learning under coach Chot Reyes.
The multi-time national team player is learning the coaching ropes under Reyes as one of Gilas’ assistants and the Philippine tactician is more than happy to see the power forward get acquainted to the bench roles.
“Proud to see my former players making the transition to coaching,” wrote Reyes on Instagram Wednesday.
Pingris was one of the most vital players of the Gilas system helping the Philippines to the silver medals in the 2013 and 2015 Fiba Asia Championship.
He also played in the 2014 Fiba Basketball World Cup in Spain.
“Ang sarap sa pakiramdam na pagsilbihan ang bayan (it’s a tremendous feeling to serve the country)!” posted Pingris.
While Pingris already serves as a deputy for Gilas, he was also appointed as commissioner of the newly-established Pilipinas Super League.
