MANILA, Philippines—Jaja Santiago steered her club to its third win in four matches while Marck Espejo and his team dropped to their sixth straight loss in the Japan V.League season Saturday.
Saitama and Santiago dealt with Himeji in four sets, 25-23, 25-22, 22-25, 25-17, in the women’s division at Wink Gymnasium in Hyogo.
Uchiseto Mami and Lorenne Teixeira put up 19 points apiece to lead the fifth seeded Ageo Medics, who improved to a 14-8 record.
Sato Yuka and Santiago also finished in double digits for Saitama with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Tanaka Saki led the Victorina with 14 points as they dropped to 5-19 at the 11th seed in the ladder.
FC Tokyo and Espejo, meanwhile, fell in a sweep to league leader Sakai, 25-19, 25-17, 25-19, at Nippon Steel Sakai Gymnasium in Fukuoka.
Jonas Kvalen led FC Tokyo with 14 points while Espejo had six as they slipped to 8-17 at the eighth spot.
