MANILA, Philippines—Pioneer Pro Tibay pulled off the early surprise, sweeping Pool A in the second leg of the 2022 PBA 3×3 tournament on Saturday at Araneta Coliseum.

Pioneer’s string of victories started with a 19-14 win over Sista Super Sealers before following it up with a 21-15 win over Master Sardines.

Leg 1 champion TNT and San Miguel Beer also failed to figure out Pioneer, losing 21-13 and 21-17, respectively. TNT saw its nine-game run—dating back to the opening leg—come to an end.

Robin Roño and Gian Abrigo came up big for Pioneer, which enters as the number one seed in the knockout stage.

Pioneer also got a needed lift from Carlo De Chavez and Christian Rivera, who were both reactivated for Leg 2.

Meralco and Limitless App, meanwhile, both went 2-0 to pace their respective pools.

The Bolts beat Terrafirma, 18-10, and Platinum Karaoke, 21-16, in Pool B while Limitless topped Barangay Ginebra, 20-17, and Cavitex, 21-15, for the top spot in Pool C.

The top 3 sides in Pool A and two best squads in Pools B and C are advancing to the quarterfinals.

Pool action continues Sunday before the knockout round.
