MANILA, Philippines—Rain or Shine broke loose in the second half as it cruised past Air21, 106-92, Wednesday night in the 2012 PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Elasto Painters notched their third win in as many games.
“We haven’t had a good start like this since the All-Filipino. This is exactly what we’re trying to do, what we’re preparing for. So far, everything’s falling into place,” said ROS head coach Yeng Guiao.
Rain or Shine pulled away after just a one-point edge in the opening period, thanks to its defense and the offensive firepower of import Jamelle Cornley and Jeff Chan.
Cornley had 21 points while Chan fired 15 of his 16 points from long distance.
Zachary Graham wound up with a game-high 37 points and 20 rebounds but it wasn’t enough as the Express drew futile scoring from their locals.
“The game plan was really to shut down Renren (Ritualo), shut down Isip, who always played well against us,” said Guiao.
Ritualo and Isip combined for only 11 points.
