Gamolo, Mariano top Minda golf q’fying
JELBERT Gamolo shot four birdies on the way to a one-under-par 71 yesterday to become the top seed in the match-play stage of the NGAP’s Mindanao Regional championship at the Apo Golf Club course in Davao.
The Bukidnon native tallied an even-par 144 after two days of medal play and earned the lightest assignment in the knockout stage—Rene Menor, who shot an 82 for 162 and 16th spot in the event that is part of the NGAP-Globe Amateur circuit.
Cebu’s Lloyd Jefferson Go fired a 69 and was second at 146, drawing No. 15 Jets Sajulga, who returned an 80-160.
Article continues after this advertisementRupert Zaragosa was No. 3 after a 74 for 147, with Reymon Jaraulla ending up fourth at 147, also after a 74, in the event backed by Pancake House, Titleist and Golf Depot.
Pamela Mariano topped the women’s qualifying with an 80 for 160, with Eva Miñoza in second at 166 after an 82. Mariano battles Stella Barnes while Miñoza duels Michelle Kuwahara for second-round spots.
Joey Huerva shot a 76 for 150 like first-round leader Noel Langamin. Huerva next faces Junio Visinica while Langamin battles Magno Arancon.
