The Ladies Philippine Golf Tour (LPGT) makes its first stop at redesigned Hallow Ridge starting on Wednesday with Princess Superal leading the compact field and labeled as the player to beat with the red-hot amateur Rianne Malixi not participating.
Basically the same field will be suiting up in the 54-hole, P750,000 championship, but the challenge up ahead is a lot different with Hallow Ridge hosting for the first time and giving the players a very different perspective.
“It’s a different course, a challenging one, particularly in reading the greens with slopes,” said Superal, who lost by a stroke to the 14-year-old Malixi two weeks ago at Luisita.
Hallow Ridge was formerly known as the TAT Filipinas layout before undergoing a massive facelift to be able to challenge the best players and conform to international standards.
Malixi left for the United States a couple of days back and will be gone for close to a month to take part in several prestigious junior tournaments. She is slated to return early next month to shake off jet lag and help Team Philippines in the Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Harmie Constantino is also entered and is also fancied like Daniella Uy and Sunshine Baraquiel, who broke through as pros last season but were never in the hunt as Malixi and Superal made it a two-woman race in Tarlac. INQ
