MANILA, Philippines–Scottie Thompson and Justin Brownlee’s indefatigable play has earned them the finest individual awards of the 2021 PBA Governors’ Cup, with both Barangay Ginebra stars winning in runaway fashion.

Thompson tabbed his first-ever Best Player of the Conference award, racking up a total of 1,128 points over TNT’s Mikey Williams (699), NorthPort’s Robert Bolick (581) and Arwind Santos (428), and Phoenix Super LPG’s Matthew Wright (416).

Brownlee, meanwhile, collected 1,275 to eclipse Magnolia’s Mike Harris (795), Meralco’s Tony Bishop (739) Jr., and NLEX’s Cameron Clark (443), to become the 10th reinforcement to have won the plum more than once.

Though grateful for the added feather on their hats, both do-it-all cagers insists the awards would be better it it came with a title.

“Really blessed,” said the Digos-raised Thompson.

“Definitely feels great winning the award, but it would be sweeter with a championship,” the resident import added.

Ginebra trails Meralco, 2-1, in the best of seven finals series.
