MANILA, Philippines—Donnie “Ahas” Nietes retained his WBO light flyweight title via unanimous decision over Felipe Salguero Saturday in the main event of Pinoy Pride XIV at the Resorts World Hotel and Casino in Pasay City.
The 31-year-old Nietes notched his 30th win against one loss, to go along with three draws with 16 knockouts.
In the featured bout, Milan Melindo made short work of Jesus Geles to earn the WBO international flyweight belt via TKO in the opening round.
Melindo, one of ALA Gym’s prized fighters, exploited Geles’ feeble body with vicious shots to the mid-section as the Columbian, who came in three pounds over the 112 limit, went down three times before the referee stopped the fight.
Melindo remained unbeaten as he improved to 27 wins, 11 coming by way of knockout.
Meanwhile, ALA prospect Genesis Servania also kept his pristine slate following a 12th round stoppage of Genaro Garcia to seize the WBC international super bantamweight crown.
Servania upped his mark to 18-0 with 6KOs while also dealing Mexico’s Garcia his ninth defeat.
