MANILA, Philippines — South Korea men’s basketball coach Cho Sang Hyun is considering a Filipino talent to reinforce his club team, Changwon LG, in the Korean Basketball League.

According to Naver Sports, the Korean coach is making his return to the Philippines. But not for any Fiba-related tournament as he is looking for potential Asian reinforcement.

“From next season, the Asian Players Quota is also open to Filipino players so we plan to go there directly. I have a lot of work to do,” Cho told the Korean news website.

“I tend to watch a lot of videos. We will be making a lot of requests to the power analysis team.”

Changwon finished seventh place with a 24-30 record in the previous season. The team was led by imports Samardo Samuels and Egyptian center Assem Marei.

Collegiate leagues are currently the active basketball tournaments this month with the UAAP down to three teams — the finals-bound Ateneo and La Salle and University of the Philippines clashing for the last championship ticket on Friday— and the NCAA, which has four squads left Letran, Mapua, San Beda and Perpetual Help fighting for the Season 97 crown.
