SEA Games: PH kickboxing team assured of eight medals

HANOI — Kickboxing has so far earned spots in the podium after victories and luck of the draw on Tuesday. But officials are hoping that all medals will transform into gold by the end of competitions at Bac Ninh provincial gymnasium.

Zephania Ngaya drew a bye in women’s 65-kilogram in full-contact finals. She is now waiting the winner between Huyinh Thi Aikvee of Vietnam and Jessie Yothawa of Thailand in final on Friday.

Four other Filipinos women bets earned byes in their respective draws assuring spots in the semifinals or at least a bronze each. They are Claudine Veloso (52kg), Gina Iniong (60kg), Reynalyn Daquel (-48kg) and Gretel de Paz (-56kg).

Former wushu champion Jean Claude Saclag, Honorio Banario and Emmanuel Cantores have won their respective matches last Monday to advance to the medal rounds as well.
