SEA Games: Aleah Finnegan wins gymnnastics gold in vault

MANILA, Philippines — Aleah Finnegan ruled the women’s vault of the 31st Southeast Asian Games artistic gymnastics on Sunday at Quan Ngua Sports Palace in Vietnam.
Finnegan executed two graceful vaults to garner a score of 13.133 for the gold medal. She also won silver in the women’s individual all-around, leading the Philippine women’s gymnastics team to the gold in the team event.
The Filipino gymnast beat Vietnamese runner up Thi Quyng Nhu Nguyen, who tallied 13.033, and Indonesian Rifda Irfanaluthfi, who wound up third with 12.817.
The other Philippine national team member Charlie Manzano placed fifth with a score of 12.150 behind fourth placer Nadine Joy Nathan of Singapore (12.600).
Finnegan joined Carlos Yulo in winning the gold for the country as the latter topped the men’s floor exercise.
Later, Finnegan finished fifth in uneven bars while fellow Filipino Lucia Gabriel Gutierrez placed eighth.
