MANILA, Philippines—De La Salle University stretched its streak to three games after dispatching Far Eastern University, 25-7, 25-12, 22-25, 25-11 in the UAAP Season 84 women’s volleyball tournament Thursday at Mall of Asia Arena.
La Salle nabbed their third win in a row to tote the same 5-2 record as second-running University of Santo Tomas, which beat the Lady Spikers in five sets on May 12, at the end of the first round.
The Lady Tamaraws, meanwhile, sank to 1-6 with their only victory at the expense of winless University of the East.
“We were really able to prepare against FEU because we know coming to this game that FEU will really give us a fight. I think they were just off in the first two sets,” said Lady Spikers assistant coach Benson Bocboc in Filipino.
“They fought back in the third set so we had to make adjustments. We were playing a bit slow because we adapted to how our opponents were playing. Fortunately, we were able to recover and get the victory.”
Alleiah Malaluan powered DLSU with 16 points on 15 attacks while Thea Gagate contributed 14 points. Fifi Sharma was also key in La Salle’s offense with 13 points.
The Lady Spikers dominated the spiking department, almost doubling FEU’s output, 59-30.
Chenie Tagaod was the lone Lady Tamaraw in double digits with 11 points.
