Rubilen Amit capped her Southeast Asian (SEA) Games stint with another billiards. This time, it was the 10-ball gem at the expense of teammate Chezka Centeno on Saturday.
“I’m just happy that there’s no pressure anymore. The gold went to the Philippines,” said the 40-year-old Amit who now has 10 SEA Games golds, counting the 9-ball title she won early in the week.
Centeno, the 22-year-old four-time SEA Games champ herself, proved to be a tough nut, racing from 5-2 down to tie the series at 5-5.
“It is always a pleasure to play Chezka who has a very strong game; she will really make you you pay for your errors and no lead is safe with her,” Amit said.
Carlo Biado captured the men’s 10-ball over teammate Johann Chua, 9-3, in the rematch of the 9-ball finals.
The country’s pool stars — led by legends Efren “Bata” Reyes and Francisco “Django” Bustamante — thus delivered what was expected of them winning four golds medals, four silvers and two bronzes in the competitions.
Reyes took a bronze in men’s 1-cushion carom, while Bustamante acted as head coach.
