MANILA, Philippines—Filipino star pole vaulter EJ Obiena picked up his second gold medal of the month on Monday.

Obiena cleared 5.85m to win the gold in the European City of Sports leg in L’Aquila, Italy.

“It’s not everyday we get to jump in such beautiful places. 5.85m for the🏅here in L’Aquila Italy. Such a beautiful venue jumping in front of Basilica di Santa Maria di Collemaggio,” Obiena, the Asian record holder, posted on social media.

Earlier this month, the 26-year-old Obiena successfully defended the pole vault title at the Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Obiena set a SEA Games record with 5.46m to easily grab the SEA Games gold.
