MANILA, Philippines–Mark Caguioa will miss another conference for Barangay Ginebra.

Caguioa, the former PBA MVP, was not part of the Gin Kings’ roster for the 2022 Philippine Cup which tips off on Sunday.

“Mark Caguioa is not on the roster because he needs to fix something. For sure he won’t be playing this conference,” said Ginebra team governor Alfrancis Chua in the PBA Season 47 press conference on Monday.

Chua, however, did not go into detail as to what Caguioa needed to fix as he is set to leave for the United States on Wednesday or Thursday.

Injuries has kept Caguioa, who named MVP in 2012, from suiting up in the past two conferences including the Governors’ Cup won by the Gin Kings last month.

Caguioa, the third overall pick by Ginebra in 2001, could be nearing retirement as he turns 43 this year.

Chua didn’t say anything with regard to the matter but he is certain of one thing when that time comes.

“I know a lot of fans will miss Mark, but he’s gonna be part of the family of Ginebra, Mark won’t go away.”
