Cess Robles wins UAAP Finals MVP as NU cops volleyball crown

MANILA, Philippines — Cess Robles was hailed as National University’s Finals MVP after helping the Lady Bulldogs win their first UAAP women’s volleyball championship since 1957.

The team captain emerged as the first-ever Finals MVP of NU’s women’s volleyball program, which completed a perfect 16-0 record in Season 84.

Robles only had six points in Game 2 but provided a solid defensive contribution with 15 digs as NU swept La Salle, 25-15, 25-15, 25-22, in the Finals series on Thursday at Mall of Asia Arena.

The outside spiker had 12 points in Game 1, where the Lady Bulldogs also dominated the Lady Spikers, 25-20, 25-12, 25-21.

Robles was the sixth awardee of NU this season as Bella Belen made history with the Season MVP, Rookie of the Year, and 1st Best Outside Spiker, Best Setter Lams Lamina, Best Opposite Spiker Alyssa Solomon, Best Libero Jen Nierva, and 2nd Best Middle Blocker Sheena Toring.
