PVL: Mika Reyes, PLDT dominate undermanned Chery Tiggo

MANILA, Philippines–PLDT Home Fibr cruised past Chery Tiggo side, 25-18, 25-19, 25-14, for a rousing start in the Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference Tuesday.

Mika Reyes led the Power Hitters with 15 points, Tony Rose added 14 while Julianne Samonte had 11 as the they proved too much for the Crossovers, who were missing several key players due to injury and health and safety protocols.

“We’ve been training hard, pushing ourselves. Winning our first game is so important but we need to practice more and polish everything,” said Reyes.

After Cherry Tiggo had its moments in the second set, PLDT never let up in the dedicating frame pulling away early before building a 24-12 lead on its way to a first win in the tournament.

“We’re getting the kind of chemistry missing in the past. We wanted to start strong and our goal was to win our first game and hope to sustain the momentum,” said PLDT coach George Pascua.

The Crossovers continued miss the services of injured Dindin Manabat and the likes of EJ Laure, Buding Duremdes, Alina Bicar and Justine Dorog, who are out due to protocols.

Mylene Paat had nine points in the losing effort for Cherry Tiggo, which also lost to Choco Mucho on opening day for a 0-2 start.
