Philippines wins six more gold medals at Asian Youth weightlifting
Rosegie Ramos and Rosalinda Faustino carted away a combined six gold medals at the ongoing Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Ramos followed the path of her sister Rose Jean and swept all the golds at stake in the junior women’s 49-kilogram division after topping the snatch (80kgs) and clean and jerk (96kgs) for an uncontested total of 176kgs.
Article continues after this advertisementFaustino also step onto the gold-medal podium thrice, lifting the metal plates in the snatch (71kgs) and clean and jerk (90kgs) practically unchallenged in the women’s youth 49kg category for a combined score of 161kgs in the total.
The pair of scintillating triumphs jacked up the medal collection of Team Philippines to 12 gold, two silver and three bronze medals going into the final day of action with Asian champion Vanessa Sarno possibly capturing all three mints in the women’s junior -71kg class.
“Our national anthem was played several times and I’m sure other countries got tired of hearing it over and over again,” said Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas president Monico Puentevella.

Rose Jean Ramos came out with the most medals after taking all of the golds in the women’s youth 45kg and seizing another gold in the junior 45kg on top of one silver and a bronze.
