MANILA, Philippines—Jimuel Pacquiao bounced back with a decision win over American Dylan Merriken in a lightweight amateur bout on Friday in Montebello, California.

The son of boxing legend Manny Pacquiao got back on track three months after he suffered his first loss on United States soil.

Learning his lesson, the younger Pacquiao fought much more composed this time to edge his opponent in the three-rounder.

Jimuel was rewarded with a special amateur belt by the WBC.

His mother, Jinkee, and two sisters Princess and Queenie was at the venue to witness the fight.

The 21-year-old Pacquiao improved to 3-1 since fighting in the US. He lost to Chris Smith in his previous fight last May.

“Nakangiti pero pinipigilan lang umiyak. First time kong mapanood ang anak ko lumaban 😢 ( namumula na mata) thank you Lord sa panalo na binigay mo sa anak ko. 😭,” Jinkee posted on Instagram.

(Smiling but keeping myself from crying. It’s my first time to watch my son fight. Thank you Lord for giving my son the victory.)

“Jimuel, i’m so proud of you! I will always be here for you. I love you, son!”

Former WBC featherweight champion Mark Magsayo was also in attendance.
