Filoil Preseason Cup: Neil Guarino’s late 3 pushes Letran past FEU
With the Tamaraws down by a point, Guarino pulled up from the top of the key to set the final tally with 15.3 seconds left.
“On that last play, we needed a score so we relied on the veterans instead of rookies like (Rafael) Go. That’s the reason why I put him (Guarino) in. He knows he needs to take those types of shots,” Letran head coach Bonnie Tan recalled.
King Caralipio had a near double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds for the Knights while Brent Paraiso also helped Letran’s cause with 16.
The reigning NCAA champions improved to 2-0 and dealt the Tamaraws their third loss in five outings.
Xyrus Torres and Royce Alforque, registered 18 and 12 points, respectively, for FEU.
