MANILA, Philippines—Not long after University of Santo Tomas acquired a new talent, the Growling Tigers lost the services of a potential key player.

Kean Baclaan, the shifty guard from De La Salle Zobel who moved to UST last year, has transferred to National University. The development comes just 24 hours after the Tigers announced the arrival of Kylle Magdangal, son of PBA legend Kenneth Duremdes.

According to reports, Baclaan has yet to enroll at UST despite having starred for the Growling Tigers in the PBA D-League and Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup.

After numerous consultations with his parents, the 5-foot-8 juggernaut has decided to play with the Bulldogs because of “better opportunities due to their lack of point guards.”

Baclaan helped take some of the scoring load from Sherwin Concepcion in the PBA D-League with averages of 16.2 points per game and 5.4 assists per game.

The UST management and new head coach Bal David have yet to release a statement regarding the departure of Baclaan.

Recruits Gani Stevens and Willie Wilson also bolted the Tigers recently to join University of the East.
