MANILA, Philippines—Carlos Yulo reasserted his mastery in his favorite floor exercise event, bagging the gold medal at the 55th All Japan Senior Championships on Friday (Philippine time).
Yulo’s latest golden performance is a big boost ahead of his training camp for the upcoming World Championships in Liverpool, England set from October 29 to November 6.
The 22-year-old Yulo also won the bronze in vault, where he clinched the gold at the 2021 worlds.
His head coach Munehiro Kugimiya said Yulo was forced to skip the other events in the tournament due to a finger injury.
“He has an injury in his finger at this time so he completed team and apparatus final (only),” he said.
Yulo, a many-time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist, also captured floor exercise gold in the 2019 edition of the All-Japan Senior Championship.
