MANILA, Philippines–Cignal knocked out PGJC-Navy with a 25-22, 25-21, 25-20 victory and secured an entry to the Finals of the Spikers’ Turf Open Conference on Tuesday at Paco Arena.

The HD Spikers will face National University-Sta. Elena, which earlier completed a sweep of the semifinals, in the best of three finals starting on Thurdday.

Marck Espejo unloaded 11 attacks and four blocks for a 16-point output in the victory while Ysay Marasigan added 14, including the last kill that put away the Sealions.

Owen Suarez orchestrated Cignal’s attacks with 21 excellent sets, including the game-clinching play completed by Marasigan

“Very happy and we reached the finals. But I’m not the main man here, everybody performed well and contributed, especially Ysay,” said Espejo.

Navy blew its chances in the close first two sets with costly miscues down the stretch, allowing Cignal to get the confidence to pull away in the third.

No Sealion scored in double figures with Greg Dolor and dela Vega finishing with nine apiece. Main man Jau Umandal finished with just five points after missing action in the first set of the game.
