MANILA, Philippines–— Atty. Honorato “Boy” de Leon ruled the finals of the mixed senior classified masters division in the 24th Sta. Lucia East Tenpin Bowling Association (Sletba) Open Championships on Friday.

De Leon, a member of Sletba, was No.9 after six games and trailed the leaders by more than 70 pinfalls. But he scored 248 and 243 in the last two games, giving him an eight-game total of 1745 pinfalls that enabled him to wrest the championship.

Elson Campita of Pasig Bowling Association (PBA) landed second with 1713, followed by Edgar Caper of Sletba with 1706. Ray Santos of USBC (1672) and Tosi Alcasid of PSB-Sletba (1670) rounded up the winners’ circle.

The finals, which was played at Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall Bowling Center in Cainta, Rizal, proved to be a tough race among at least 10 players.

Caper led in the first five games, but kept only a slim lead over his closest rivals. The last two games proved to be decisive on the final.
