MANILA, Philippines—After a stellar rookie year, Jalen Green is eyeing to become an All-Star in his sophomore season with the Houston Rockets.

Green showed a lot of promise in his first season after he made the All-Rookie First Team.

The Filipino-American guard finished fourth in a stacked Rookie of the Year race won by Scottie Barnes of the Toronto Raptors.

“[I want to be an] All-star… I need wins to be an All-Star but I’m not really pressed about it too much but that’s one of my goals this year, for sure,” Green said during an online roundtable on Tuesday.

Green averaged 17.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 67 games for the Rockets last season.

The young Rockets, however, struggled as a team as they finished with the worst record at 20-62.

With a year of experience under his belt, the 20-year-old Green is determined to bring more success to the Rockets.

“There’s a chip on my shoulder. I feel like every time I step on the court I have to prove myself. It’s going to be an exciting year,” he said.

Green has been putting in the work to elevate various aspects of his game.

“I’ve been working on everything. You can’t just work on one thing. You kind of have to improve your whole game.

The Rockets, who added former Auburn star Jabari Smith in the draft and recently signed exciting guard Kevin Porter Jr. to an extension, open their campaign against the new-look Atlanta Hawks on Thursday.
