Crucial PVL games called off due to Paeng
MANILA, Philippines — The Premier Volleyball League shelved its Saturday double-header, highlighted by F2 Logistics and Petro Gazz’s clash, in the Reinforced Conference at Sta. Rosa Sports Complex in Laguna due to inclement weather caused by Tropical Storm Paeng.
The league, organized by Sports Vision, announced the cancelation hours before the out-of-town game day to “guarantee the safety of the players, the teams’ personnel, and volleyball fans”
Article continues after this advertisement“When it comes to weather, the players’ safety and all those involved in each PVL staging is our priority,” said Sports Vision president Ricky Palou.
Laguna and Metro Manila are currently placed under Signal No.3.
The Cignal-Choco Mucho and F2 Logistics-Petro Gazz matches will be rescheduled to a later date.
Article continues after this advertisementThe four clubs were supposed to play the matches that are crucial to their respective semifinals bids as Chery Tiggo already clinched the first Final Four berth with five straight wins in as many matches, while the Grand Slam-seeking Creamline (4-0) is just a win away from booking its ticket.
Defending champion Petro Gazz holds the third seed with a 2-1 record, eyeing its second straight win against F2 Logistics, which has a 2-2 card tied with Choco Mucho.
The Cignal HD Spikers were supposed to try to end a two-game slump against the Flying Titans.
PLDT is currently at seventh with a 1-3 card, while the skidding Akari (1-4) and the winless United Auctioneers Inc.-Army (0-4) are both on the brink of elimination.
PVL’s next playdate is set on November 3 at Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan with Army facing Cignal and Choco Mucho battling Akari after the Halloween break.
