Former ONE champion Shinya Aoki trains with Team Lakay in Baguio

MANILA, Philippines — Former ONE lightweight world champion Shinya Aoki trained with his rivals from Team Lakay in Baguio as part of his Philippine trip.

Eduard Folayang and Team Lakay posted a couple of pictures of the Japanese MMA icon Aoki, who trained with them on Wednesday in La Trinidad, Benguet.

Aoki joined Folayang, coach Mark Sangiao, Jhanlo Sangiao, Lito Adiwang, Joshua Pacio, Jeremy Pacatiw, and Geje Eustaquio during their practice session.

Besides training with his former rival and other Filipino fighters, the 39-year-old Aoki is enjoying the food and local tourist spots after his grueling trip from Manila to Baguio.

The multi-titled Japanese, who holds a 47-11 record, lost his last fight against Saygid Izagakhmaev by technical knockout in the first round of their match in Singapore last November 19.

Aoki beat Folayang twice in their three matches and submitted Honorio Banario in the first round of their Tokyo match last October 13, 2019.
