PASSI CITY — Converge forward David Murrell registered a total of 92 points in the you-or-me finalé with fellow high-flyer Tyrus Hill to rule the 2023 PBA All-Star Weekend’s Dunk Competition.

Murrell drew 46 points for his first entry and then got another 46 for a 360-degree windmill slam to ultimately beat former teammate Hill by a point in the showcase at City of Passi Arena.

Hill also had a rather underwhelming first entry, but a big second dunk that featured Ginebra star Jamie Malonzo drew a perfect 50 from the judges that kept the Blackwater forward in contention for the title.

“I actually thought he already won it,” Murrell said of Hill. “I was already congratulating him before my (second) dunk. I thought he had it.”

Hill pocketed a P30,000 prize in the contest judged by PBA greats Allan Caidic, Noli Locsin, Passi Mayor Stephen Palmares, PBA Press Corps president Gerry Ramos and veteran broadcaster Andy Jao.

Earlier, TNT’s Dave Marcelo bagged the Obstacle Challenge title, while Magnolia’s Paul Lee was crowned 3-Point King.

On tap for Friday is the Greats-Stalwarts duel that will pit the league’s finest rookies, sophomores, and third-year players.
