Angel Canino says win over NU showed true La Salle potential
MANILA, Philippines —Showing their true potential as a team, the La Salle Lady Spikers finally got one over defending champion National University in the UAAP women’s volleyball Wednesday at Mall of Asia Arena.
Angel Canino, the Lady Spikers’ young star, spelled the difference for La Salle as she poured in 14 points to end a four-game skid to NU with a 25-10, 25-15, 25-21 victory and complete a seven-game sweep of the first round — the team’s best start since Season 76 in 2014.

“We showed who we are and what we can do. And we pushed ourselves as an individual and as a team. This is us, the Lady Spikers.”
Canino continued to to be a thorn in the side of Bella Belen and the Lady Bulldogs, as she also led La Salle-Zobel in ending Nazareth School’s four-year reign in Season 81 girls’ volleyball in 2018.

“I think it’s not just me. All of us inside the court helped each other that’s why we got this result. We stuck to the game plan and system,” Canino said.
Canino and the Lady Spikers will battle the Lady Bulldogs in the second round right away on Saturday at Philsports Arena.
