SJ Moore officially commits to UST Growling Tigers

MANILA, Philippines—University of Santo Tomas continued its acquisition frenzy by securing the services of the 15th-best high school basketball player in the country, SJ Moore.
Days after successfully locking the services of Filipino-Canadian Gabriel Obusan, the Growling Tigers made official the acquisition of Arellano standout Moore on Friday.
“We know the caliber that SJ has and we see that he is the future of UST. I’m really happy that he chose to go here,” coach Pido Jarencio said.
“I’m happy that SJ picked UST and at the same time, we can teach him and we can help him.”
Moore put his one-and-done talents to good use with the Braves in the NCAA Season 98 boys’ basketball tournament.
He led the team with 19.0 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.4 steals, 1.3 assists, and 1.3 blocks to give Arellano a 7-9 record.
Moore showed excitement when finally announced as the newest Growling Tiger under Jarencio.
“I saw UST is where I’d really fit the best. I can see that I’d be used here compared to other schools so I’m excited to be part of UST,” Moore said.
The athletic guard immediately has the green light to play for UAAP Season 86 and will have five years of eligibility starting then.
Moore was also hailed as the NBTC All-Star game MVP last week.
