Sandra Gonzales tries to defend her crown against a veteran cast of challengers in the Tri United 2 this weekend at the scenic Playa Laiya in San Juan, Batangas.

Gonzales of PLDT-Bike King remains a favorite in the 2K swim-60K bike-15K run event where duathlon queen Monica Torres and Unilab bets Kim Mangrobang and Ani de Leon-Brown are also tagged to come out strong in the elite female division.

Matthew O’Halloran, Kevin Eijansantos of Trimac and Unilab Active Health’s Dan Brown and Carlo Pedregosa lead the contenders in the elite male.

The race kicks off on Saturday with the age-group competitions featuring a 1K swim-30K bike-7K run event.
