Former World No. 1 Garbine Muguruza is extending her hiatus through the clay and grass seasons.
The two-time Grand Slam singles champion revealed the update to her tennis schedule Monday on Instagram.
“Spending time with family and friends and it’s really been healthy and amazing, so I am going to lengthen this period till summer, therefore I am going to miss clay and grass season,” the 29-year-old from Spain wrote.
She has not competed since a first-round loss to 18-year-old Czech qualifier Linda Noskova at Lyon in February.
Ranked No. 1 in September 2017, Muguruza has dropped to No. 132 in the world.
She is a 10-time winner on the WTA Tour, including the French Open in 2016 and Wimbledon in 2017.
