MANILA, Philippines—The Letran Knights paid a visit to their NCAA Season 97 hero Rhenz Abando in Game 5 of the Korean Basketball League the Finals at Jamsil Students’ Gymnasium on Thursday.

Though Abando’s Anyang KGC fell to the Seoul SK Knights in Wednesday’s game, 66-60, he had familiar faces in the stands as coach Bonnie Tan and teammates from his Season 97 stint watched the action.

Along Tan were household Letran names Louie Sangalang, Fran Yu, Kurt Reyson and Tommy Olivario.

“A welcome guest from the Philippines❤️,” Anyang KGC said in its Facebook post sharing photos from the visit.

Abando misfired in the loss, scoring only four points in a 2-of-12 shooting clip but KGC will have a chance to extend the series on Friday.

Abando made history in his one-and-done season with the Knights in 2022, being hailed as the first Rookie of the Year and Rookie of the Year awardee in seven years.

Before flying to Korea to play for Anyang, the 6-foot-2 high-flyer posted averages of 15.73 points, 6.36 rebounds, 1.73 assists and 1.27 blocks in the three-peat champion’s 11-game season sweep.
