Denmark Quibido edges Danrick Sumabong, wins vacant GAB title in Blow-by-Blow
MANILA, Philippines—Denmark Quibido edged Danrick Sumabong to claim the vacant Games and Amusements Board super flyweight title in Saturday’s Blow-by-Blow main event at Imus Sports Center in Cavite.
Quibido won by majority decision, 114-114, 117-111, 117-113.
Article continues after this advertisementThe 27-year-old Quibido (13-1, 7KOs) bounced back after a unanimous decision loss to Sikho Nqothole of South Africa last October in Johannesburg.
RV Deniega also came out victorious after a fourth-round stoppage over Justine Darap in their 10-round bantamweight bout.
Deniega hiked his unbeaten record to 9-0 with 6 knockouts while Darap dropped to 11-4, 7KOs.
Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, the medical expenses of Kenneth Egano, the Sarangani bantamweight who fell into a coma after winning his eight-round fight against Jason Falculoarin, will be shouldered by Manny Pacquiao.
The 22-year-old Egano collapsed while he was awaiting the official result of his bout and was brought to the hospital after paramedics attended to him on top of the ring.
“There is nothing more precious than human life,” Pacquiao said.
Egano is now confined at Imus Doctors Hospital and was scheduled to undergo an operation Sunday.
