PBA: Converge gets Mike Nieto, sends future picks to Rain or Shine
MANILA, Philippines–Converge made another offseason move by acquiring Mike Nieto from Rain or Shine in exchange for two future draft picks.
The FiberXers gave up their second round choice in the PBA’s 49th and 50th seasons in order to land the sophomore forward out of Ateneo.
Article continues after this advertisementIt was the second trade Converge pulled off following the conclusion of the 2022-23 season, recently acquiring Adrian Wong from Magnolia.
Wong plus Magnolia’s first round pick in the coming draft were taken for Abu Tratter and David Murrell.
The latest deal reunites Wong and Nieto, who were teammates during their UAAP days with the Blue Eagles.
Article continues after this advertisementNieto played 26 games during the recent PBA campaign, but made just five appearances in the season-ending Governors’ Cup due to a knee injury.
He averaged 11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists during the Philippine Cup, 8.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists in the Commissioner’s Cup and 4.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists in the Governors’ Cup.
