SEA Games 2023: PH wushu artists grab silver, three bronze medals

MANILA, Philippines—Four Filipino wushu artists notched the podium finishes the 32nd Southeast Asian Games at Chroy Changvar Convention Center: Hall A on Thursday.

Gideon Padua settled for silver in the men’s sanda 60kg category, losing to Vietnam’s Truong Giang Bui in the final.

Carlos Baylon bowed out of the semifinal match in the men’s sanda 56kg category after succumbing to Indonesia’s Bintang Reindra Nada Guitara, 2-1.

Jenifer Kilapio had the same fate as she settled for bronze after her 0-2 defeat to Vietnam in the women’s sanda 48kg division semifinals.

Russel Diaz also finished on the podium with a bronze medal after suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Indonesia’s Laksamana Pandu Pratama.

Fortunately for the Philippines, bronze would not be the only medal they would have in wushu as Agatha Wong clinched her fifth gold medal of her SEA Games stint on Friday.

Wong secured the first place finish in the women’s taijiquan and taijijian event with an overall score of 19.623 points.
